THE DIVINE SPINE DIFFERENCE

What Is A Subluxation?

SUBLUXATIONS AND SPINAL DEGENERATION

Subluxations (misalignments in the spine) may lead to lack of mobility and eventually degeneration of your spine if untreated.

A subluxation causes an interruption of communication from the brain to cells, tissues or organs in the body.

It further causes changes to the structure as well as irritate the nerves and these changes get progressively worse, and can lead to ongoing degeneration.

WHAT IS A SUBLUXATION?

There are 3 (main) reasons why subluxations occur:

Emotional stress - Every person responds to stress with a fight-or-flight response, this is our sympathetic system.

If a bear comes at you, you either get strong enough to fight the bear or strong enough to run like crazy.

When the bear is no longer there, any damage that may have happened during the fending off of the bear will get healed with the parasympathetic system.

But when you encounter emotionally fraught situations, for example dealing with a nasty divorce, a family crisis, or the emotional roller coaster we've all been in world wide due to the pandemic, it is like the bear has his arm around your shoulders 24/7.

This constant fending off of the emotional-weight causes sleep and digestive issues (in the grand scam of things, how could you possibly sleep or eat if you're fighting off a bear...?)

This repetitive emotional stress, causes muscles to contract, which then leads to muscle spasms, guarding, and compensations in your posture, which lead to spinal subluxations.

Physical stress - It's not just the slips, falls, bumps or incorrect lifting, but the repetitive daily actions.

Bad posture is a big one.

Repetitive movements or sustained poor posture are like a pebble in your shoe: at first, it's not a big deal, but over time it can become excruciating.

Chemical stress - These are toxins consumed by mouth, inhaled, or rubbed onto the skin that the body doesn't know what to do with, such as cigarettes, alcohol, medication, pollution, and certain types of beauty products.

Whatever the body can't tolerate will cause chemical stress in your system and the nervous system will become overwhelmed.

If the nerves that control certain muscles are inundated, then muscles can become unbalanced, causing spasms and ultimately, subluxations.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I HAVE A SUBLUXATION?

Spinal misalignment - Although contact still remains between the joint surfaces, the normal joint alignment, movement and function are altered.

Nerve dysfunction - As your nerves pass directly through your spine, subluxations will cause nerve irritation, often times placing silent stress on your nerves, affecting the proper communication between your brain and the rest of your body.

Soft tissue dysfunction - Swelling and inflammation can occur and surrounding soft tissue such as discs, ligaments and tendons can be damaged.

Muscle dysfunction - Surrounding muscles can become tight, out of balance, sensitive or may even spasm.

Other general health issues - Left unattended, subluxations can lead to long term changes like spinal degeneration, general lack of energy, compromised respiratory function and compromised organ function.

THE LINK BETWEEN SUBLUXATIONS AND SPINAL DEGENERATION

Misalignments in your spine lead to lack of mobility and eventually degeneration of the spine if untreated.

Spinal degeneration is wear and tear of the discs and joints in your spine.

Chiropractors are the only health professionals specially trained to examine you for the presence of subluxations and correction of subluxations.

Chiropractors detect and remove subluxations, allowing your spine to move properly and distribute stress evenly. Keeping your joints moving and your nerves free of interference can slow, stop and even reverse spinal degeneration.

Combined with a wellness lifestyle, chiropractic can make your older years more enjoyable and free of life-altering degeneration.
